Our Story
Welcome to Sorrento’s Italian Bistro, where the culinary journey traces back over a century to the heart of Sicily. Our recipes have been cherished through three generations, each bite reflecting the rich heritage of authentic Italian cuisine. Situated in Banner Elk, NC, Sorrento’s Italian Bistro has been a beloved fixture since 1983, delighting both locals and travelers alike with our delectable offerings.
Originating from the southern shores of Italy, our family’s culinary traditions have been deeply influenced by the region’s abundant seafood offerings. Contrastingly, the northern culinary landscape of Italy is tinged with French influences, favors rich creams and buttery textures.
As a family-run establishment, Sorrento’s Italian Bistro embodies warmth and tradition. Today, helmed by third-generation chefs Nicole and Anthony Palazzo, we continue to honor our heritage while infusing our menu with exciting, innovative creations.
Our nightly specials showcase a blend of cherished family recipes and contemporary culinary delights, ensuring a memorable dining experience for all who visit.
Choose from our two distinct dining rooms and immerse yourself in the flavors of Italy at Sorrento’s Italian Bistro.

“Nice restaurant in the Banner Elk area in NC mountains. This place has multiple rooms with each room a different theme. One is a romantic, more formal room, next is a wine room, one is a tasting room and one is a Bistro style room where we eat.“

“The pizza we had was amazing. My wife and friend had the manicotti which they ate all of it. The kids ate spaghetti and meatballs. I would highly recommend this. The waitress was amazing as well and super polite considering we had a group of 7 that included kids.“

“The Chef’s Table was fabulous! All 6 of us absolutely enjoyed our drinks, appetizers, and meals. Our server, Sierra, was fabulous. We had a lovely visit with our bartender, and the Flambé chef stopped by to check on us. A totally lovely experience!!“
